Best Photo Spots in Kane County
Finding the best spot for your photo session is half the battle!
Thankfully, we have plenty of options in the area! Here are some ideas for your upcoming photo session that will give you lots of variety depending on the time of year and what type of look you’re going for with your session! Here are some of my favorite locations to visit in Kane County!
Leroy Oakes forest preserve - st. charles, il
This is a popular photo spot with good reason! This forest preserve has two large red barns, plenty of trees and paths and other cute little spots that are perfect for any type of session. It is almost guaranteed that you will see other photographers there, regardless of what time of the year. This is a good spot for anyone looking for a rustic vibe with different options if you’re looking for variety.
fabyan forest preserve - batavia, il
This is another extremely popular photo location (also with good reason!) This location has two bridges along with other sweet spots across the forest preserve to provide variety for your session, including spots along the Fox River as well as a garden courtyard on the other side of the river. There is also a giant windmill that gives you something different. This is another spot that tends to be overrun by photographers depending on the time of year. It’s an extremely popular location for senior photos. Even still, there are a ton of options to give your session lots of variety.
downtown west dundee, il
Downtown photo sessions are highly underrated in my opinion! Downtown West Dundee is a beautiful place for your session, regardless of what type of session. It offers a ton of different spots, whether you’re looking for something along the river or along the riverwalk or like the idea of exposed brick and vine. Downtown photos give a different vibe than you see from most sessions and definitely recommend considering it for your next session.
island park - geneva, il
Geneva is always bustling with people and Island Park is no different! This is another park located along the Fox River that offers lots of varieties. You can find beautiful river views, greenery, exposed brick and a giant bridge among other spots. It can get pretty busy, especially in the warmer months. Nevertheless, still a beautiful option for your photos!
hampshire forest preserve - hampshire, il
Hampshire is probably not a place that comes to mind when you think of a photo location, but it absolutely should be! This forest preserve in Hampshire is quiet and tucked away. I’ve worked here several times and it’s almost always empty. This is a great location if you’re looking for a beautiful sunset with an open sky along with prairie and greenery. There’s a old house (pictured) that provides a sweet backdrop and the kiddos loves to explore it!
doerr forest preserve - south elgin, il
This is another bustling forest preserve. It’s got a ton of options, but be prepared for some walking, as it is HUGE! There’s a fairly large bridge that stretches across the river as well as prairie grass and lots of covered paths. There’s even a secret waterfall (I haven’t been there yet) that offers a gorgeous backdrop.
walton island park - elgin, il
Downtown Elgin has so much to offer your photo session! Walton Island Park is one of many options you’d have in downtown Elgin but it’s a great starting point. There are 3 different bridges along with spots right on the river, a gazebo and pretty stone detailing. With more exploring, you can find spots that have pretty exposed brick, cool alleyways and more. I generally park by Hemmens or the Rec Center.
